Interview: Candice from CandiceDoesTheWorld.com

Today we are proud to feature an interview with our wonderful friend Candice, the hilarious voice behind the travel blog CandiceDoesTheWorld.com. We met Candice while spending a winter in St. John’s, Newfoundland and she brought an incredible amount of warmth to the snowy surroundings. She’s a very talented writer so make sure that you bookmark her blog and follow her on Facebook and Twitter.

First of all, tell us in your own words who you are, where you are from and what you do?

My name is Candice Walsh, I’m a Professional Experience Collector from Newfoundland,
Canada. In other words, I write stuff and do cool things and sometimes people get jealous about
it.

Where are you at the moment and what are you currently working on?

I just arrived back in Newfoundland after a fun little trip around the Canadian Prairies. What am
I working on? Right now – an in-depth article about Newfoundland’s food revolution, which is
taking me to dine at all kinds of fancy five-star restaurants. Research. Long-term – I’m working on
becoming an author. Maybe. Shh.

We know you love Newfoundland, what do you miss the most about it when you are away?

The ocean! Unless I’m by the ocean, and then I miss my friends. Just kidding, I miss my friends
and family the most, always. Newfoundlanders are bred with intense connections to home. So
intense, some of us never leave.

What has been your craziest/strangest travel experience?

Whoa, I don’t think I have any wild travel stories. Knock on wood! Maybe that time my plane was
delayed on the way back from Mexico, and I had lost my pants and was wearing only my flip-flops
and wandering around New Jersey like a homeless person until I found a shady hotel…where I
ate spaghetti and meatballs at 3 AM, cuz I was starving. And then when I finally made it on my
flight like, a day later, a fire happened on the tarmac and the sirens were going off in the airport
for about an hour. I popped some Gravol and knocked myself out for the flight. Woke up drooling
with the whole plane staring at me.

Where has been your favorite place you have visited on your travels?

Cape Breton surprised me beyond all words. Machu Picchu gave me an intense connection to the
planet. But it’s Newfoundland that always, always inspires me the most.

What is the place you haven’t been to yet that you dream of traveling to?

GREECE. ALL OF GREECE. EVERYWHERE IN GREECE.

Tell us about the best food you have ever eaten on your travels?

Ceviche in Peru! Ah god, how I miss it.

Are there any other travelers or travel bloggers who inspire you?

If I say Global Goose, do I get points?
