Announcement: Global Goose Internship Program Launches

Global Goose is growing.

In 2011 we started Global Goose as a side project to document our travels and share our experiences with working and traveling the world. Now in 2016 the blog has reached a point where we can expand and add different voices and perspectives. We are looking to add new members to our team working as paid interns who can help us grow.

What we can offer you:

Experience:

We started out as complete rookies in the travel blogging and freelance writing worlds. Now it’s been our full time income for almost 5 years. You will be working with us to create high quality content and you will have the opportunity to learn a lot about this career and lifestyle.

Exposure:

We are at the point where we get a lot of traffic and have a sizable social media following. At the moment you might have a lot of ideas to write about, but you may not have anyone reading your blogs. When you are published on Global Goose your writing will reach an audience of people all over the world who are interested in travel.

Feedback:

Not quite found your writing style? We can offer feedback on your writing and help you to improve.

Support/Advice:

We have a wealth of experience when it comes to travel and working on the road. We are happy to share what we have learned with our interns in order to help them on their journey.

Community:

Freelancing is a lonely world. We hope to create a workplace style dialogue between our contributors. You’ll be part of the Global Goose team and you can feel free to bounce ideas off us, make suggestions and be active in the travel blogging process.

Compensation:

We are freelancers, we don’t work for free. So we don’t expect you to either. We can’t offer top dollar but we can give you a little cash for your published posts. We pay between $10 and $25 for every post our interns publish. We will also offer bonuses for well performing posts and for achieving certain milestones that we agree upon together.

In this Internship, the compensation is secondary to the experience you will gain and the benefits of working with us. If you are primarily interested in making money from this program, you probably shouldn’t apply. If you have dreams of travelling and writing and want to learn from our experience while still being compensated for your time, this will be a great fit for you.

You Will Need

  • A good grasp of the English language and strong grammar and writing skills.
  • The ability to work to a brief we provide and research and write content.
  • The creativity to suggest your own ideas for blog posts as well.
  • Willingness to interact with commenters both on the blog and on social media.
  • Be able to commit a few hours per week to writing your blog posts and communicating with us and other members of the team.
  • A passion for travel!

How to Apply

Please send an email with your CV, examples of your writing, and a short paragraph about why you want to be a Global Goose Intern and what you hope to achieve. Also, please include your travel experience (even if it’s only been a few places).
